Granite Canyon Trail

Usually less busy than other trails in Grand Teton National Park, Granite Canyon is located on the southern end of the park. Access to this trailhead is gained via the Moose-Wilson road and is a quick 5 minute drive from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village.

Granite Canyon marks the border of the National Forest to the south and Grand Teton National Park to the north. The canyon gradually inclines and provides stunning views of steep canyon walls, waterfalls, Granite Creek, and wildlife. The actual trail is an out and back trail; you can go out as far as you like and turn around to come back to the trailhead.

Other trail options and loops include the Valley Trail, which Granite Canyon Trail crosses only after a mile. The Valley Trail runs north-south along the base of the Tetons. Either go south on the Valley Trail to link up with trails at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Or go north on the Valley Trail to reach Bradley and Taggart Lakes in the southern section of the park. If you continue along Granite Canyon Trail to the end of the canyon you will eventually run into the Teton Crest Trail, a great trail for a multi-day backpacking excursion.
